Why is Aether a classical Element?
The Myth of
Sylphs
How do Wind Turbines
work?
Just 5 Steps
This element has many different names from Wind to Air to Quintessence which all contribute to the region of space above the earthly sphere.
In the early days it was thought that the aether provided a medium for light to travel through.
Now we know that light travels as a wave or a particle through multiple different mediums including air.
Air is actually mainly made up of gasses. It is 78% Nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% of carbon dioxide, neon and hydrogen.
Wind is then just an extension of this as it is described as air in motion due to air pressure, Two things are needed to form wind: speed and direction of these particles/molecules.
Sylphs AKA Sylphid is Paracelsus' elemental being of the air. All of Paracelsus' beings are easily able to move through their elements.
Since as Humans we move through air everyday Sylphs are said to be the closest elemental being to us. They also drown in water, are burned by fire and are stuck on the earthly plane, just like us.
They are so closely related to the aether that they chose to live in the sky on the clouds. They have wings so they can freely move from place to place using air waves.
Some say they appear like humanoid shapes, whilst others believe they are dainty creatures like fairies. They are also described to be ghost like due to their transparent nature.
Breeze Nymphs can be called Aurai or Aurae because they breath over the fresh morning air. There is also Nephelae, Nymph of the clouds and Harpies who are spirits of whirlwinds.
1. Wind blowing the blades. To get the turbines moving the wind will pass over them. This Kinetic energy causes them to spin.
2. The shaft begins to move. The blades then turn the shaft inside the box at the top of the turbine.
3. Generator then converts the energy The shaft will get the generator to convert this kinetic energy into electricity.
4. This is where the Transformer comes in. For this energy to be the correct voltage for the local network, a transformer is needed. It will convert the voltage to what it needs to be.
5. The Electrical Grid This energy then travels all across the grid to reach the buildings e.g. homes or offices which require electricity from it.
Its as simple as that!
