Why is Water a classical Element?

The Myth of

Undines

Water, in ancient Greece was thought to be connected to our emotions and intuition. Nowadays this has changed slightly as this element is linked to purity and cleanliness. It is a symbol or innocence and virginity.

It is essential to our way of life just as all 4 elements are. Water is used for such a huge number of things that without it we wouldn't live longer than 3 days (depending on the person).

As a classical or basic element water is the only to appear in a liquid state, Therefore it can be described as the Mother of all Liquids and to have been created alongside Milk or Juice and other important liquids.

Undines are a group of beings which can be believed to have been part of the creation of water.

They came from Paracelsus the "father of toxicology" who wrote about them in his book called "On Nymphs", which in 1811 Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué created a portrait based off it. This is where the depiction of Nymphs came from.

There is mixed thoughts on if these creatures are immortal or not. Some sources say Nymphs can obtain an immortal soul by falling in love and marrying a Human.

Others say they instead live for long amounts of time and can be killed just like any other living being.

They came to be known as personifications of nature.

They can also be divided into Subgroups for each element. The fresh water Nymphs, the Naiads and sea water Nymphs, the Nereids.

Why is Water so Important our bodies?

Just 5 Reasons

1. It regulates your body temperature and keeps all tissues hydrated through lubricating our joints.

2. Removes Toxins from the body. This can either be through urination or sweat. It aids kidneys with the removal of these toxins from our blood to keep them healthy.

3. Water is essential to Digestion. Intestines absorb the water we drink and release it into the bloodstream to help break down the food we eat.

4. It can act as an energy boost. Our brain is 73% water which means drinking it can boost our energy levels as well as our ability to think clearer and refocus.

5. It helps you to be healthy. Drinking just 1% more water a day can fill you up enough so you don't eat as much. It will boost your metabolism and means you consume less calories.
